John Cummuta served 11 years in the Navy right out of high school. Before being discharged, he met Jesus while helping his parents with a teen ministry event. He recalls, “At one of the weekend retreats my parents conducted for high school students, I accepted Jesus’ sacrifice, asked His forgiveness and became a joint heir of the salvation He earned for me at the cross. That was nearly forty years ago, and every day with the Lord is better than the day before. I look forward with great anticipation to spending eternity with Him.
“After the Navy, I spent a decade in broadcasting,” John continues, “including serving as Operations Manager of National Religious Broadcasters and General Manager of WCFL, Chicago’s most powerful Christian station at the time.”
John went on to become an entrepreneur, educator and personal finance/small business author. He has written more than a dozen books, including Are You Being Seduced into Debt?, and helped produce a wide range of training programs, software tools and multimedia resources, including The Wealth Generator and The Power of Perpetual Income. His Transforming Debt Into Wealth system is the best-selling personal debt – elimination/wealth-building program in the world.
As an entrepreneur, John has started several successful businesses, one of which made Inc. Magazine’s list of the 500 fastest growing private companies in America three times. As a small business consultant, his prime directive is to help people achieve the daily life they want to live on the way to financial independence. As a personal finance educator, he has helped more than three million people worldwide prepare to enjoy their retirement years.
John is quick to point out the role of others in his success, including groups like Pinnacle Forum. “Pinnacle Forum has been a key part of my life and ministry,” John says. “The main impact has been the relationships with the men in my Forum. They’ve been such an inspiration for me to take action for the Kingdom. Among other things they have prayed and encouraged me through writing a Kingdom-focused book, On-Purpose Christianity, and developing a 32-part curriculum for my church titled Expanding the Kingdom of God on the Business Mountain.”
“It goes both ways,” John adds. “I have had the privilege of praying for and encouraging these men through some of their challenges and opportunities. One of my brothers in our Forum, Dick Toliver, just finished a book titled Woman–a Godly Creation. Don Mellon, another of our Forum Partners, started my wife Lois and I on helping an inner-city homeless program. Another Partner, Chris Coffman, is expanding Helping Hands for Single Moms from a Phoenix-only focus to a national ministry. In fact, every Partner is doing something to expand the Kingdom. We all inspire and encourage each other.
“We’re kind of the wild west out here in the far-west Phoenix suburbs,” John says. “There are lots of opportunities to start something new. I sense many churches and ministries are taking Ephesians 4:11-12 more seriously these days and ‘equipping the saints for the work of the ministry.’ It’s we saints who are the ministers in the marketplace. We’re responsible for expanding the Kingdom.”
