Debbie Wuthnow
Debbie Wuthnow is the President of iVoterGuide and a member of the Board of Directors.
Wuthnow holds a master’s degree in Computer Science from Princeton University and was a Systems Engineer at AT&T Bell Laboratories.
Debbie grew up in a Christian home in Springfield, Missouri. Her debate partner at Kickapoo High School led her to Christ where she ‘walked the aisle’ at a Baptist Revival at the age of 16. However, not until her first semester at Princeton (when she met her future husband) did she learn what following Christ really means. She then rededicated her life and was baptized.
Since then, Bible study and discipleship have been the anchor and foundation to her life.
Very active in Community Bible Study (CBS) for over 20 years, Debbie served in leadership and on the “servant’s team,” first in St. Louis, then in Chicago and Austin. The first bible study she did was Henry Blackaby’s Experiencing God, which had a huge impact on her life. Through that study, she learned to watch for God at work and join him in that work. She also learned that God speaks not just through His word and prayer, but also through other people and circumstances.
She has followed His leading through her education, marriage, engineering career, motherhood, and into her current leadership position at iVoterGuide.
After receiving her Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Missouri-Rolla (UMR) in 1985, she was hired by AT&T Bell Laboratories and placed in the One Year On Campus program, through which she received her Master’s Degree in Computer Science from Princeton University in 1987.
During her time at AT&T Bell Laboratories, Debbie served as a Systems Engineer in Holmdel, NJ and as a Technical Consultant on the AT&T Regional Marketing Team for Southwestern Bell. In these roles she worked defining protocols for Integrated Services Data Network’s Basic Rate Interface (ISDN-BRI), representing AT&T at the international standards’ bodies, and as project lead demonstrating the first microcellular tower.
In 1992, Debbie’s lifelong dream was achieved when she became a mother. As a stay-at-home mom of three, Debbie also served in many volunteer positions including: director of vacation Bible school, decade-long coordinator of the student ministry’s Labor of Love Craft show, and Coordinator, Treasurer, Children’s leader, and music leader for Northwest Austin Community Bible Study (CBS). She also undertook projects for the PTA, band boosters, gymnastics team boosters, and swim team boosters.
Praying for God’s leading during her “empty nest” period, Debbie was connected to iVoterGuide in 2011 through her CBS Teaching Director. God had much in store for her – and for iVoterGuide. Debbie began as a data analyst, supporting the Chief Technical Officer in website maintenance, but before long was learning database programming to download and process campaign finance data and other critical information. In 2014, she was named Director of Operations. She became Executive Director and became a member of the Board of Directors in 2016. In 2018, she was named President of iVoterGuide.
Debbie joined the Pinnacle Forum Board of Directors in 2021.
She lives in Austin, Texas with her husband, Mark, and is the mother of three grown children. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, sewing, reading, and playing handbells.
